If you are a company that produces hazardous waste, you must apply for a waste producer number for each relevant operating site under certain conditions.
As a company, you must comply with certain registration and verification obligations when handling hazardous waste.
If you have to dispose of more than 2 tons of hazardous waste per year, you need a waste producer number.
The waste producer number
- is a nine-digit identification number that you need as a waste producer or waste owner in order to be able to participate in the electronic waste records procedure (eANV) when disposing of hazardous waste,
- identifies the place where the waste is generated or accumulates,
- is necessary, among other things, to be able to prove the proper and environmentally friendly disposal of hazardous waste.
You need a waste producer number for waste disposal certificates and consignment bills. You also need the number for entry in the so-called transfer bill if waste is collected and disposed of with a collective waste disposal certificate. A maximum of 20 tons per calendar year, point of origin and waste code is permitted for this.
If you have several business sites where hazardous waste is generated, you must apply for a separate waste producer number for each site.
Notes:
- In the event of relocation, the previous producer number becomes invalid. Please apply for a new waste producer number for the new location.
- In the event of a company name change, the previous producer number will remain valid if there is no change in legal identity.
In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, producer numbers are issued by the State Offices for Agriculture and the Environment.
Some competent authorities require copies of the business registration or an excerpt from the commercial register. You can upload these as a PDF file if necessary.
In accordance with fee item 313.14 of the Waste Cost Ordinance M-V (AbfKostVO M-V), a maximum fee of EUR 250.00 is charged for the issue of a producer number.
The decree on uniform fee assessment provides detailed information on fee calculation and fee levels. The decree is published on the homepage of the State Office for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Geology (LUNG).
You can apply for a waste producer number from most competent authorities via the online service. Some authorities provide other ways of applying.
The competent authority first checks whether the information is complete and plausible and whether the required documents have been enclosed. If necessary, it will request additional information and documents.
If the information and documents are complete and plausible, the authority will issue a company number and inform you of this.
Official establishment numbers must be stated in the forms of the waste documentation procedure, such as waste disposal certificates, consignment bills and transfer bills. These forms must be completed before the start of waste disposal.
