From 01.01.2024, you will no longer be able to apply for, update or change your child's passport. Information about the processing status is therefore also no longer possible.

The children's passport will no longer be issued, amended or extended from 01.01.2024. For you as parents of children under the age of 12, this eliminates the need to apply for or renew a children's passport every year.

If your child still has a valid children's passport, this ID document can continue to be used until it expires.

Depending on the destination, children may need an identity card when traveling abroad (travel within the EU) or a normal passport (worldwide travel).
