You can register the collection of your paper waste from your private household if your public waste disposal provider offers this service.
Recovered paper is a valuable raw material. Paper products made from waste paper (recycled paper, cardboard and cartons) have a significantly lower environmental impact than paper products made from virgin fibers. Recycled paper is therefore also awarded the Blue Angel eco-label.
The disposal of paper waste from private households is the responsibility of the public waste disposal authorities. Waste paper collections can also be carried out by commercial or non-profit providers (commercial or non-profit collection).
Does your public waste disposal provider offer collection of paper waste (e.g. waste paper garbage can or blue garbage can)?
Then it belongs in the waste paper garbage can or in an appropriate collection system:
- Newspapers/magazines
- Paper, cardboard and carton packaging (food cartons must be completely empty!)
- Paper, cardboard and cardboard from offices and administrations
- Paper school materials
- Brochures/books
- Uncoated wrapping paper
- Egg cartons
- Gift boxes
Do not put in the waste paper garbage can or in an appropriate collection system:
- Beverage cartons
- Wallpaper
- Wax, kerosene, bitumen and oil papers or cardboard
- Carbonless paper
- Thermal paper (e.g. corresponding receipts, parking tickets, vouchers and so on)
- Wet-strength impregnated and/or glued paper and cardboard
- Varnish, glacé and chromo papers and boards produced with plastic varnishes or films
- Papers with adhesive that cannot be removed by water (sticky notes, address labels, self-adhesive seals for envelopes)
Information on any costs can be found in the respective waste fee statutes of your public waste disposal authority.
The disposal of paper waste is regulated in the individual statutes of the public waste disposal authorities. This also includes information about
- existing collection and delivery systems for paper waste (for example waste paper garbage cans, drop-off options at recycling centers, container services),
- the waste fees and
- the waste calendar (collection intervals).
Depending on the service, please contact your public waste disposal authority to register the collection of your paper waste.
