If you have passed the compulsory state examination in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on the first attempt, you can repeat the examination once at the latest on the next but one examination date in order to improve your overall grade. The examination can only be repeated as a whole. Individual achievements from the previous examination cannot be recognized.
Application with the documents also required for the first attempt

- Successful participation in a course on interdisciplinary key qualifications

In order to be admitted to the state compulsory subject examination (grade improvement), you must fulfill the following requirements:
- Completion of a proper law degree, minimum duration 2 years
- Enrolment at the University of Greifwald in at least two semesters prior to the first examination
- Participation in the practical study period of at least three months
- Proof of foreign language skills
- Successful participation in the exercises for advanced students in civil law, criminal law and public law
- Successful participation in a course in a basic subject
- Successful participation in a course on interdisciplinary key qualifications
It is possible to have other academic achievements recognized under the conditions of § 6 of the Lawyers' Training and Examination Regulations.
The application must be submitted in writing or electronically to the responsible office. The other documents must be attached as originals or simple copies. If you apply electronically, you can upload the documents.
After you have submitted the application for admission, the competent body will check the requirements.
If you meet the requirements, you will be admitted to the compulsory state examination after the respective application deadline and invited to take the written examination. If you do not meet the requirements or if the application is incomplete, you will be informed immediately. If your grade improvement attempt is subject to a fee, you will be asked to pay an advance of 300 euros, as admission is dependent on payment.
Once you have been admitted to the grade improvement procedure, you can waive the procedure at any time by submitting a written declaration to the relevant office. If you achieve a higher score in the overall grade in the improvement attempt, you will be issued with a certificate. In this case, the first examination attempt is deemed not to have been taken. Otherwise, the grade of the first examination attempt remains valid.
Once the application has been received, it will be checked immediately to ensure that it meets the requirements and is complete. Confirmation of receipt will not be issued. After expiry of the respective application deadline, all candidates who meet the requirements will be admitted at the same time and invited to the written examination. The advance payment request is processed separately.
You have the opportunity to improve your grade in the next examination date or the one after that, starting after the announcement of your decision to pass. You must register for the next possible date after the end of your examination within five working days of the day of your oral examination. For the next but one examination date, you must adhere to the regular registration deadline, January 15 for the S date and July 1 for the W date.
The application deadlines are statutory deadlines. The date of receipt of the complete application documents by the responsible office is decisive for compliance with the application deadline.
In the event of a refusal of admission to improve grades in the state compulsory examination for the First Legal Examination, there is the possibility of legal action.
