Fahrerlaubnis: Begleitetes Fahren ab 17 Jahren bei bestehender Fahrerlaubnis beantragen

If you have a driving license, you can apply for an extension of this license for categories B and BE as part of "accompanied driving from 17". When driving before your 18th birthday, you must always be accompanied by a previously appointed and suitable person.

You can drive a vehicle of categories B and BE (passenger cars) in Germany at the age of 17 if

• you have passed the driving test,
• you have applied for an extension of this driving license for categories B and BE as part of "accompanied driving from 17" and
• you are accompanied by an authorized and previously appointed person.

On the date of your 18th birthday, you may drive the vehicle unaccompanied.
However, if you drive a vehicle before your 18th birthday without being accompanied by a named person, your driving license will be revoked. In addition

• a fine,
• a point on the driving aptitude register,
• the extension of the probationary period and
• an order for an advanced training seminar.

• Proof of existing driving license
• valid identity card or passport
  • Identity document can also be an electronic residence permit (eAT) or similar
• If applicable: current registration certificate
• Current biometric photo (size 45 x 35 mm, portrait format, frontal shot)
• Proof of first aid training
• Eye test certificate (not older than 2 years)
• Application form for participation in accompanied driving from the age of 17
• Application form for each accompanying person

• The fee is based on the scale of fees for road traffic measures (GebOSt).
• If the driver's license is sent directly to your home address, an additional shipping fee will be charged.

• Driving license extension to include accompanied driving from the age of 17 for category B
• By participating in "accompanied driving from 17", the minimum age for obtaining a category B and BE driving license is lowered to 17.
• If a person takes part in "accompanied driving from 17" and passes the driving test, they first receive a test certificate.
• With the test certificate, the person may drive a vehicle of categories B and BE in Germany before their 18th birthday accompanied by a named and authorized person.
• If a driving license is already available, an extension of this driving license for categories B and BE can be applied for as part of "accompanied driving from 17".
