Qualification modules qualify for an activity that is part of recognized vocational training. The qualification modules have a clear and binding reference to a training regulation and the training plan. Themodules are geared to the regional labor market situation. The modules are self-contained and are limited in terms of content and time. The modules end with a certificate of competence.

The advantages of the qualification modules are the efficient guidance of young people in need of support towards training and systematic qualification. As a provider of qualification modules, you must apply for certification that they are in line with the qualification profile before using them.

Participation in a qualification module should last between 140 and 420 hours. This corresponds to 4 to 12 working weeks, for example, if

• The working week has 5 working days
• A working day has 7 hours.

Participation in a qualification module qualifies you to carry out an activity that is part of training in a recognized training occupation or equivalent vocational training.

In special cases, you can deviate from this time corridor. This does not restrict the overall duration of the vocational training preparation, as several different or consecutive qualification modules can be completed if required.

The qualification modules are developed by the vocational training preparation providers. Companies can tailor the modules to their individual qualification opportunities within the framework of the legal requirements.

When developing qualification modules, you must comply with the framework conditions of the Vocational Training Act. You must take up the content of recognized training occupations when developing them. You must refer to the training framework plan when developing them.

• the Chamber of Lawyers, Patent Attorneys and Notaries as well as the Notary's Office for the vocational training of specialists in the field of law,
• the Chamber of Auditors and the Chamber of Tax Consultants for the vocational training of professionals in the field of auditing and tax consultancy,
• the Chambers of Physicians, Dentists, Veterinarians and Pharmacists for the vocational training of healthcare professionals.

There are other competent bodies, for example for bodies in the area of public law and the churches.
