As a translator, you can apply for general swearing-in in M-V for judicial, official and notarial purposes.
Document translators can be generally sworn to translate languages for judicial, official and notarial purposes in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The translators are entered in the electronic register of interpreters and translators, which can be viewed by anyone.
Sworn translators may use the designation "generally sworn translator for... (language specified)" or "sworn translator for... (specify language)".
As a rule, the following must be submitted as proof of personal suitability
- a copy of the identity card or passport
- proof that the place of business or residence is in a member state of the EU or another state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or Switzerland (only for applicants who are not from an EU or EEA state)
- Certificate from the immigration authority confirming the existence of a residence permit and a work permit for self-employment
- a certificate of good conduct according to § 30 para. 5 of the Federal Central Register (document type:OB)
- a curriculum vitae in tabular form
- Declaration pursuant to Section 3 (3) Nos. 3 and 4 GDolmG (see application forms on the website of the Rostock Higher Regional Court)
As a rule, the following must be submitted as proof of professional aptitude
- Proof of basic knowledge of the German legal language
- accompanied copy of a certificate for an interpreting examination passed in Germany from a state or state-recognized examination office or another state or state-recognized examination for the interpreting profession
- a copy of a certificate for an examination passed abroad that has been recognized by a competent authority as equivalent to an examination pursuant to Section 3 (2) No. 1 GDolmG
- Alternatively, evidence in accordance with § 4 GDolmG (alternative proof of qualification) must be submitted. Special requirements must be observed here!
- f you apply to be sworn in as an interpreter and translator at the same time, a fee of € 170.00 will be charged. Interpreters and translators who were already sworn in before 01.01.2023 in M-V pay a fee of € 70.00 for the first general swearing-in in accordance with the GDolmG and/or the ÜG M-V.
The President of the Rostock Higher Regional Court is responsible for providing the necessary information on the course of the administrative proceedings.
