If you wish to collect or transport or trade in non-hazardous waste, you must notify the competent authority of the activity.
As a collector, transporter, trader and broker of non-hazardous waste, you must notify the competent authority of this activity.
If you carry out this activity with hazardous waste and are exempt from the obligation to obtain a permit (for example, commercial enterprises, waste management companies, EMAS companies), you must also notify your activity and attach additional documents to this notification.
If you have already notified your activity and your information has changed significantly, you must submit the notification again.
The obligation to notify applies to both national and transboundary waste shipments.
- Your company number(s) under waste law as a collector, transporter, broker or dealer of waste (if already issued to you)
- the transaction number of your initial notification (only if you wish to create a notification of change)
- your business registration (if you are required to register your business)
- an extract from the commercial, association or cooperative register (if an application has been made)
- If you are exempt from the obligation to obtain a permit for handling hazardous waste: Your waste management company certificate or your registration certificate as a certified EMAS company (if your company has the corresponding certification; in the form of a PDF file with a maximum file size of 2 MB)
- proof of a business and environmental liability insurance (if such an insurance exists)
- proof of the professional competence of the persons responsible for the performance and supervision of the company
- If you want to take up an activity as a waste collector, transporter, trader or broker for the first time, or if you want to change essential information about your activity, you must notify the competent authority.
- You can do this by e-mail or by using the online form to enter your data and submit the required documents.
- If necessary, the authority will send you a confirmation of your notification and may make your activity

The notification must be made prior to commencement of the activity of collecting, transporting, trading or brokering.
- Collectors and transporters of waste shall carry a copy or printout of the notification confirmed by the authority when carrying out their activities.
- A completed notification does not replace the notification.
- Specialized waste management companies and EMAS-registered companies that make use of the exemption from the permit requirement must submit follow-up certificates and follow-up registration certificates to the competent authority without being asked to do so.
