The "FTI-Thüringen TECHNOLOGIE" funding program supports research and development projects carried out by companies and scientific institutions in Thuringia.
The Free State of Thuringia supports projects that can be assigned to the "Regional Innovation Strategy for Intelligent Specialization and Economic Change in Thuringia" (RIS Thuringia).
Funding is possible in the following RIS fields:
- Industrial production and systems
- Sustainable and intelligent mobility and logistics
- Healthy living and health economy
- Sustainable energy and use of resources
- Information and communication technologies, innovative and production-related services
Research and development projects are eligible for funding:
- Thuringia Verbund and Thuringia Verbund Dynamik
- Funding recipients: SMEs, large companies and scientific institutions in association with SMEs
- Thuringia R&D individual
- Beneficiaries: SMEs
Innovation vouchers:
- InnoDecide
- Beneficiary: SMEs
- InnoPrepare
- Beneficiaries: SMEs, scientific institutions in the non-economic or economic sector if the SME criteria are met
- InnoSecure
- Beneficiaries: SMEs, scientific institutions in the economic sector, if the SME criteria are met
- InnoCreate
- Beneficiary: SMEs
They receive the funding as a grant:
R&D alliance - industrial research:
- Up to 80 % for small companies
- Up to 75 % for medium-sized companies
- Up to 65 % for large companies
R&D alliance - experimental development:
- Up to 60 % for small companies
- Up to 50 % for medium-sized companies
- Up to 40 % for large companies
Thuringia R&D individual - industrial research:
- Up to 70 % for small companies
- Up to 60 % for medium-sized companies
Thuringia R&D individual - experimental development:
- Up to 45 % for small companies
- Up to 35 % for medium-sized companies
Dynamic R&D network:
- Up to 60 % for smaller companies
- Up to 50 % for medium-sized companies
- Up to 40% for large companies
Research institutions can receive a grant of up to 100% of expenditure as part of their non-commercial activities.
Innovation vouchers:
- Up to 50%
- Up to 100% InnoPrepare for scientific institutions in the non-economic sector
- The grant is awarded on application.
- Applications for a grant must be submitted electronically via the online portal of the Thüringer Aufbaubank (TAB) using the forms provided. In addition, the written application must be submitted to the TAB, unless the electronic form replaces the written form.
- When applying for the innovation voucher, the financial plan and all bids received for the external service contracts applied for must be submitted. As a rule, at least three offers should be obtained. If this number is not reached, special justification must be provided.
The grant is possible under certain conditions:
- The project must be carried out in Thuringia.
- As part of the application, the project must be plausibly related to a field of specialization. For Thuringia Verbund, applications can only be submitted as part of a call for competition.
- For Thuringia R&D Individual and Thuringia Verbund Dynamik, a minimum score of 50% of the possible points must be achieved for the evaluation criteria, as well as at least 3 points for the criterion of economic exploitation potential.
- Thuringia R&D Individual applications must also score at least 3 points in the innovation content criterion.
- For Thuringia Verbund Dynamik, at least 60% of the requested expenditure must be incurred by the companies from the date of receipt of the application (01.06.2023).
- With InnoDecide, the prospects of success must always be the subject of the commission. The results and findings must be clearly assigned to the above-mentioned services in the study. If a service or the assignment is missing, the grant cannot be paid out.
- A final report must be prepared. In the final report, the services applied for must each be presented in separate sections with a corresponding subheading or similar.
