You must apply for the renewal of your driver's license for classes C, CE, C1, C1E, D, DE, D1 or D1E at the responsible driver's license authority.

The driving license for classes C, CE, C1 or C1E, D, DE, D1 or D1E is issued for a maximum of five years and can be extended for five years at the request of the license holder.

• Proof of eyesight according to the model in Annex 6 No. 2 to the Driving License Ordinance. You can have the certificate issued by an ophthalmologist, by a company or occupational physician or by a physician from the public health department. An issued certificate/attestation is valid for 2 years.
• Proof of physical and mental fitness in accordance with the model in Annex 5 to the Driving License Ordinance.
  You can have the certificate issued by any doctor. At the time of application, the certificate must not be older than one year.
• In addition, for classes D, D1, DE, D1E, if you have reached the age of 50, a performance psychology certificate. The certificate must not be older than one year at the time of application.

The fee is based on the schedule of fees for road traffic measures as amended from time to time.

The application can be submitted at the earliest six months before the expiry of the previous driver's license.

If the application is not submitted until after the expiry of the previous driver's license, the license will no longer be extended, but a new driver's license will be issued. The fact that you were already the holder of a corresponding driver's license at an earlier time is then no longer evident from the new driver's license.

Regardless of whether it is a genuine renewal or a new issue (due to late application), a new driver's license is always issued.
