If a license to practice medicine is lost or destroyed, you can apply for a replacement certificate to be issued. You can find out more here.

The basis for practising the veterinary profession is a successfully completed university degree in veterinary medicine (veterinary examination in accordance with the Ordinance on the Licensing of Veterinarians or proof of veterinary training recognized as equivalent). In addition, a separate professional license is required to use the professional title "veterinarian" in the Federal Republic of Germany and to practice the veterinary profession. This professional license is the Approbation. The requirements for the granting of a license to practice are laid down by law in the Federal Veterinary Code. If the Thuringian State Office for Consumer Protection has issued the certificate of licensure, a duplicate can be applied for (replacement certificate of licensure).

• The application is made informally.
• Proof of the reasons for issuing the replacement authorization
• Identity card or passport with current confirmation of registration
• If applicable, birth certificate or extract from the parents' family register
• Date of issue of the license

The certificate was issued by the Thuringian State Office for Consumer Protection and there are no reasons against issuing the duplicate.

• Application and submission of the required documents by the applicant
• Examination and processing by the Thuringian State Office for Consumer Protection (additional documents may be required)
• Issue of the duplicate of the license

You do not have to observe any statutory deadlines when submitting your application.

The required documents or evidence must be submitted in the original, as an officially certified copy or as an officially certified photocopy. If these are not issued in German, they must also be submitted in an officially recognized translation.
