You must notify the competent authority of the installation or modification of heating oil storage systems.
If you want to set up or significantly modify a system for storing EL heating oil / emergency power system, this may be subject to notification under water legislation.

The system must comply with the requirements of the Ordinance on Systems for Handling Substances Hazardous to Water (AwSV). This must be verified with the documents to be submitted.
The amount of the fee is determined by the Thuringian Administrative Cost Regulations for the Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Nature Conservation. The amount of the fee depends on the type of installation and the associated inspection costs. The fee ranges from € 60 to € 2,500.
- The developer must notify the authorities at least six weeks in advance of the construction or significant modification of a facility for handling substances hazardous to water.
- If a facility requires a suitability assessment, construction may only take place after this has been granted.
- The water authority examines the documents. It can temporarily or permanently prohibit the project or issue a decision with conditions.
- It takes an average of one month to process a complaint.
- If the documents are complete,
- no other procedure such as a suitability determination or exemption in the water protection or flood area results from this, and
- no conditions are imposed by the water authority in the form of a decision,
- the project can be carried out after the six-week period has expired (fictitious approval).
- If the project is the subject of another procedure, for example under the Federal Immission Control Act, notification under Section 40 AwSV is not required if the project is examined as part of the other procedure. In this case, the six-week deadline does not apply.
