Would you like to become a private pilot? Then you will need a pilot's license, which you can apply for from the state aviation authority after successfully completing training at a flying school. You can also have your pilot's license renewed or converted.
In order to participate in air traffic, you need a permit (pilot's license) in which the acquired authorizations are entered.
Note: Permits for commercial and professional pilots are the responsibility of the Federal Aviation Office (LBA) and those for air sports pilots (ultralight aircraft, hang gliders, paragliders and parachutists) are the responsibility of the air sports associations.
The acquisition of a pilot's license requires the successful completion of theoretical and practical training. The training takes place at an approved pilot training organization (ATO) or a registered pilot training organization (DTO) and includes theoretical knowledge and practical skills in areas such as navigation, aircraft knowledge, operating procedures, communication, meteorology, flight performance and flight planning as well as aviation law.
The renewal of the authorization and the conversion of the permit are carried out at the request of the holder of the pilot's license.
To be submitted by the aviation school:
Registration for training
Registration for participation in the examinations
Only for pilot licenses for motor-powered aircraft: Valid certificate of background check in accordance with § 7 of the Aviation Security Act (LuftSiG)
Copy of identity card
To be submitted by the applicant:
Valid medical certificate from an aviation physician
Declaration of ongoing investigations and criminal proceedings
for minors: Consent of the legal representative
Only for SPL (without TMG) and BPL: Certificate of good conduct (document type O)
Extract from the driving aptitude register
Copy of radiotelephony certificate (if available)
Technical requirements:
Training in theory and practice with a legally defined minimum number of flying hours, take-offs and landings
Successful completion of theoretical and practical examinations
Proof of acquisition of practical radiotelephony rights (e.g. BZF)
Personal requirements:
Depending on the type of license, minimum age
Reliability of character
physical and mental fitness as determined by an aviation physician
An administrative fee of €50.00 - €70.00 is charged for the issue of a pilot's license.
This does not include the administrative fees and expenses for the theoretical and practical examination.
Obtaining a pilot's license
Once you have covered all the required subjects in the theory lessons at the aviation school, you will then take the theory test at the Thuringian State Administration Office. Once you have successfully passed this hurdle, practical lessons follow. Once you are ready to take the examination, the aviation school will register you for the practical examination at the Thuringian State Office of Administration. This will issue an examiner assignment with an approved flight examiner. Once you have successfully passed the examination, you can be issued your license after submitting all the necessary documents.
Renewal
In the event that the validity period of a license has expired, it can be renewed upon application by undergoing refresher training and passing a proficiency check.
Conversion
The rights arising from the license can be converted upon request.
Passing the theoretical examination: within 18 months of starting the examination.
Passing the practical test: within two years of passing the theory test.
Renewal of the permit: Before the permit expires.
