If you would like to conduct scientific studies at schools in Thuringia, you must first apply for permission to do so.

Scientific research projects in schools (studies, surveys, test series, etc.) require approval. Approval may be granted if the project demonstrates a significant scientific interest with regard to the educational mission of the school and the burden on the school is kept within reasonable limits.

• a description of the project (conception, naming of the responsible project leader, naming of the partners involved, information on the concrete procedure of the project, etc.)
• the survey documents such as questionnaires, interview guidelines, test documents, cover letter to the participants, if necessary cover letter to the legal guardians for the purpose of obtaining consent for the participation of underage pupils. The survey documents must clearly indicate the purpose of the project, the reference to voluntary participation, the treatment of the survey documents envisaged by the applicant and their final whereabouts, as well as the procedure of the project.
• information about the time schedule and the expected scope of the project
• an overview of the schools where the project is to be carried out

• Research at schools must be applied for and approved in advance.
• Written request is required.
• Responsible: Application must be made to the respective state education authority or, in the case of projects involving more than one school authority, to the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in good time before the intended project begins.

The application for approval must be submitted in writing to the respective state education authority or, in the case of projects involving more than one education authority, to the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in good time before the start of the intended project.
