The Petitions Committee formed by the Thuringian State Parliament decides on the requests and complaints submitted to it by citizens, the so-called petitions.

Everyone has the right to address requests or complaints to the competent authorities and to the people's representatives. These requests and complaints are called petitions or submissions.

It examines the petitions on their merits if the person or body whose conduct is the subject of the petition performs public duties and is subject to the supervision of the Free State of Thuringia.

Petitions can be submittedin writingororally. Anyone wishing to present their concerns in person can use the Petitions Committee's citizens' consultation hours or arrange an appointment with the state parliament administration.
