If you want to market eggs from your laying hen farm or your laying hen husbandry, you must register it under certain conditions. Upon registration, you will be assigned an identification number.
Laying hen farms or holdings are subject to registration if they
- keep 350 or more laying hens or
- keep fewer than 350 hens, but market their eggs subject to mandatory labeling. There is no obligation to label eggs when they are delivered by the producer at the production site if they have not been graded according to quality and weight classes.
Fully completed application form incl.
- Site plan showing the location of the individual stables on the farm,
- Proof of compliance with the requirements for the respective husbandry system by confirmation from the competent veterinary and food inspection office and/or the organic inspection body and
- in the case of organic production and free-range farming: compliance with the requirements for the laying hens' freedom of movement.
- Chicken farming is confirmed by the responsible veterinary and food inspection office.
- In the case of organic production, registration is confirmed by an organic inspection body.
- In the case of organic production and free-range farming: compliance with the requirements for the laying hens' freedom of movement.
The registration or amendment of the registration is subject to a fee in accordance with No. 5.5.3 of the Annex to Section 1 (1) of the Thuringian Administrative Cost Regulations for the Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture (ThürVwKostOMIL).
Costs of between €25 and €484 are incurred, depending on the processing effort and the husbandry system.

Once a complete application has been submitted and proof of compliance with the relevant conditions has been provided, the processing time is approximately 2 to 3 weeks.
The approval of a packing station may be required. Please contact the responsible office in this regard.
