If you wish to operate a training center for further training in the health and social care professions regulated in Thuringia, you must have it recognized by the competent authority.

In order to operate a continuing education center for continuing education in the healthcare and social professions regulated in Thuringia, you must submit an application for recognition of the continuing education center to the Thuringian State Office of Administration. Recognition is based on the Thuringian law on further training in the specialist healthcare and social professions and the associated Thuringian ordinance on the implementation of further training in the specialist nursing professions.

Personnel requirements:

• Management of the training center by a full-time teacher who has successfully completed a pedagogical or nursing pedagogical university, university of applied sciences or technical college training or a university or university of applied sciences degree in nursing science or nursing management,
• a sufficient number of professionally and pedagogically suitable full-time and part-time teaching staff,
• Management of further specialist training as a "hygiene specialist" and "hygiene officer in care facilities" in a college with at least one part-time specialist in hygiene and environmental medicine or a part-time specialist in microbiology and infection epidemiology and at least one full-time trained hygiene specialist or a hygiene officer with permission to use the further training title "practice supervisor".

Spatial and material requirements:

• A sufficient number of suitable, appropriate rooms with the necessary facilities,
• Rooms for teaching materials,
• suitable media and teaching materials,
• necessary work aids,
• for further training to become a "nurse in palliative care", sufficient suitable retreats for participants,
• a library,
• sanitary facilities.

Content requirements:

• Submission of curricula for the theoretical and practical parts of the further training in accordance with the subject areas of the modules listed in Annex 5 of the Thuringian Ordinance on the Implementation of Further Training in the Nursing Professions
• Planning of practical training in the form of curricula,
• contractually ensuring practical further training with suitable health and social care facilities.

Recognition is granted on application for one or more specific areas of further training regulated in Thuringia. Regulated further training courses are

• Further training to become a "practice supervisor"
• Further training to become a "responsible nursing specialist according to § 71 SGB XI"
• Further training to become a "Head nurse of a department in a hospital and other nursing care areas"
• Further training as a "specialist nurse for geriatrics and gerontopsychiatry"
• Further training as a "hygiene specialist"
• Further training to become a "hygiene officer in care facilities"
• Further training to become a "nursing specialist in palliative care"

For recognition, certain minimum requirements in terms of personnel, space and equipment must be met.

There is no time limit for the application.

All teaching staff working at the training center must provide evidence of 40 hours of continuing professional development per year.
The competent authority must be notified immediately of any change in the management or full-time teaching staff of the training center.
