If you would like to work in Thuringia with a foreign educational qualification, you must first have it recognized as equivalent.
Since 1 April 2012, professional qualifications acquired abroad can be recognized or treated as equivalent via the "Act to Improve the Assessment and Recognition of Professional Qualifications Acquired Abroad". As part of an assessment procedure, foreigners can have the equivalence of their foreign professional qualification established with a German qualification, which entitles them to practice certain professions. For professions in the skilled trades sector, the local chambers of skilled trades are responsible for carrying out equivalence assessment procedures.
- Application for equivalence assessment
- Proof of identity (passport / identity card)
- Proof of training acquired abroad (certified copies of the original certificate and translation)
- Proof of relevant professional experience or other proof of qualifications
- Curriculum vitae in tabular form
- Declaration that you have not submitted an application for recognition in any other federal state
Not every recognition body is responsible for all qualifications. All federal states have their own competent bodies for recognition procedures.
All documents must be submitted in German. Translations must have been prepared by a publicly appointed or sworn interpreter or translator.
