Ausnahmegenehmigungen für den Straßenverkehr erhalten

Exceptions to the requirements and prohibitions of the Road Traffic Regulations are possible upon request.

It is not always possible to comply with the rules and prohibitions of the Road Traffic Regulations for a smooth flow of traffic. In this respect, an exception can be granted in individual cases after application.

This concerns, for example, exceptions

• from the regulations concerning the use of roads,
• from the prohibition to enter a highway or a motor road or to use it with vehicles not authorized there,
• from the regulations on stopping and parking,
• the regulations concerning the dimensions of vehicles and loads,
• from the regulations concerning the use of safety belts and the wearing of safety helmets,
• the prohibition of driving on Sundays and public holidays
• the prohibition of placing obstacles on the road,
• from the prohibitions of operating loudspeakers, offering goods or services on the road,
• from the prohibition of advertising and propaganda in connection with traffic signs,
• prohibitions or restrictions imposed by regulatory or directional signs, as well as
• the prohibition of parking at night or on Sundays and holidays for vehicles over 7.5 t and trailers over 2 t in residential areas.

Evidence of the need for an exemption for the specific facts of the case.

Anyone and everyone with a justified request is entitled to apply. Exemptions will be granted only in case of urgent need, with due regard in particular to the safety and order of traffic.

According to the Fee Regulations for Road Traffic Measures (GebOSt), there is a fee range of 10.20 euros to 767.00 euros per exception and vehicle / person.

• Application processing by the competent authority
• Granting or rejection of the exception

Depends on the individual case and involvement of other agencies.

As a rule, no deadlines apply, but an application should be submitted as early as possible and not at short notice. Certain processing times should be granted to the authority.

The decision (administrative act) on an application may be appealed by means of an objection/complaint.

• For exemptions from road traffic must be applied for.
• Evidence of the need for an exemption for the specific circumstance must be submitted.

As a rule, applications should be made informally, preferably in writing (with reasons).
