Above-average volunteer citizens can apply for a nationwide volunteer card. This means that they can take advantage of all the benefits provided by the state, the participating municipalities and private partners throughout the country.
- Voluntary work of at least 5 hours per week or 250 hours per year
- Minimum age 14 years
- No payment; the reimbursement of expenses actually incurred is permissible.
The nationwide volunteer card is a joint project of the state with the participating municipalities. The municipalities that participate can be found on the website of the Control Centre for Volunteering and Citizen Participation www.wir-tun-was.de in the field of volunteering.
If you want a volunteer card, you must fill out an application and have it confirmed by the association or organization for which you work on a voluntary basis as well as by the municipality. The application must then be forwarded to the Volunteering and Citizen Participation Control Centre of the State Chancellery for the issuance of a volunteer card.
The application form can be found on the website of the Control Centre for Volunteering and Citizen Participation www.wir-tun-was.de in the volunteering section under "Downloads".
