Beantragen einer Verlängerung der Aufenthaltserlaubnis aus dringenden humanitären oder persönlichen Gründen

Extension of a residence permit issued on humanitarian grounds, e.g. in accordance with § 23 or § 25 of the Residence Act.

Humanitarian reasons that led to the granting of a residence permit in accordance with Section 25 may include the following in particular:

• Recognition as a person entitled to asylum or refugee in an asylum procedure by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees,
• Existence of a ban on deportation or an obstacle to departure,
• Determination of exceptional hardship.

The documents and fees may vary depending on the legal basis of the humanitarian residence permit.

• Valid passport (not for recognized refugees or persons entitled to subsidiary protection)
• Proof of health insurance
• Tenancy agreement (proof of sufficient living space)
• 1 biometric passport photo

• Possession of a valid residence permit according to §§ 22 - 25b of the Residence Act

  The residence permit to be extended must have been issued in accordance with sections 22, 23, 23a, 24, 25, 25a or 25b of the Residence Act.

• Humanitarian reason still applies

  The residence permit cannot be extended if the humanitarian reason no longer applies, for example because recognition as a person entitled to asylum or refugee has been revoked by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees or there is no longer an obstacle to leaving the country.

The fees forextending the residence permit are calculated according to the technical effort involved in issuing it:

• Adults: 30 to 80 euros for each extension of the residence permit
• Minors: 15 to 40 euros for each extension of the residence permit

It is best to make an appointment 4 to 6 weeks before the previous residence permit expires.

The responsibility lies with the foreigners authority of the district administration and the city administration of the independent city.
