Accidents in mining where a person is wholly or partially unfit for work for more than 3 days must be reported to the competent authority.

If your company is active in the mining industry, you must report accidents in which a person is wholly or partially unable to work for more than 3 days to the relevant authorities.

• Description of the hazardous situation or accident and its consequences
• Duration of the employee's sick leave
• Pictorial documentation

You and your company are active in the mining industry and an accident occurs in which at least one person is unable to work for 3 days or longer or is partially unable to work.

The advertisement itself does not incur any costs.

You can report an industrial accident online via the "BergPass" platform or directly to your local mountain authority.

Report an industrial accident online report:

• Go to the "BergPass" online platform and register.
  • To register, you will need a BundID and an identity card or residence permit with an active online ID function.
• Call up the application form and fill out the application completely and truthfully.
• Upload the required documents as a file and send the notification.

Submit an industrial accident directly:

• Contact your responsible mining authority and coordinate the required documents.
• Submit the notification and all required documents.

Further procedural steps:

The competent authority will check your details and the documents submitted. If any documents are missing, the authority will contact you.

You must make the notification immediately.

• Mining companies must notify the authorities of accidents in which a person has been wholly or partially incapacitated for more than 3 days
• Failure to do so may result in a fine of up to 25,000 euros
