Is your child having problems at school? Then school psychological counseling may be able to help and provide solutions.
School psychological counseling aims to create a learning environment for all children and young people in which they can optimally develop their abilities.
Topics include learning and behavioral difficulties, truancy, bullying, promoting talent, cooperation, communication and conflict resolution, promoting health, coping with crisis situations and school development.
Parents, pupils and teachers can make use of the counseling service for school and learning-related issues. Counseling is confidential. It takes place in cooperation with the school.
Teachers, school management and staff can receive support with school processes and content.
Schools can apply for school-specific further training. Schools and teachers can take part in fixed training courses.
School psychological counseling can be requested by

can make use of this service.
The school psychologists will not work without the consent of the legal guardians (usually the parents) or the pupil.
- Pupil is under 14 years of age: consent of the legal guardians
- Pupil is 14 years of age or older but not yet of legal age: consent of the legal guardians and the pupil
- Pupil is of legal age: consent of the pupil
Minors can also contact the school psychologists without the consent of their parents or legal guardians and take advantage of an initial consultation. For further discussions or measures, however, the legal guardians must then give their consent in writing.
Parents, pupils or teachers register at the School Psychological Counseling Center.The initial consultation usually takes place with all those involved. Further confidential discussions may also be held with parents and pupils individually. If necessary, the consultation may include psychodiagnostic examinations. A medical or therapeutic diagnosis is not made. If necessary, further services are suggested or involved: Doctors or therapists, counseling facilities, youth welfare services.
The school psychologist provides support, advice and mediation for problems that arise at school.
Every school and therefore every pupil is assigned to a school psychological counseling center (SPBZ) of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Institute of Education. The schools know the respective SPBZ.
