Zweiter Bildungsweg Aufnahme beantragen

Would you like to take the second educational path at a college or evening grammar school? Then you must apply in writing for admission to such an institution.

The institutions of the "Second Way of Education" are schools of general education and contribute to lifelong learning after compulsory schooling. The educational offer is aimed at adults who want to improve their general education and employability, acquire a higher school leaving certificate and thus the ability to study and the university entrance qualification (university of applied sciences or university).

In Rhineland-Palatinate, school leaving certificates can be made up in the following ways:

• at special institutions for adults with professional experience to catch up on the Fachhochschulreife or the Allgemeine Hochschulreife:
  Colleges and evening grammar schools
• about certain examinations (non-student examination, gifted examination)

You must apply in writing for admission to such an institution.

The application shall be accompanied by:

• a complete CV with photograph,
• certified copies of the final or departure certificate of the last general education school and vocational school attended,
• certified copies of a journeyman's, skilled worker's or assistant's certificate or a certificate of professional qualification recognised as equivalent or other certificates and attestations of professional activity,
• an explanation of whether an attempt has already been made to be admitted to a college or evening grammar school.

Admission requirements are:

• You are at least 18 years old,
• You have acquired a level of education equivalent to the qualified lower secondary school leaving certificate,
• You have completed vocational training of at least two years or can prove that you have a regulated professional activity of at least two years,
• You do not already have the general higher education entrance qualification,
• You have not repeatedly passed the Abitur examination without success - also in another country of the Federal Republic of Germany;
• You have passed the entrance exam.

If you have a vocational baccalaary school leaving certificate, you must first attend a half-year preparatory course.

There are no fees. Accommodation in a boarding school is subject to a charge.

You must observe the deadline for submitting or submitting the application for admission; this is determined by the head of the college or evening grammar school.

Attendance at the Kolleg is eligible for funding under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG). From the introductory phase, support is provided regardless of the income of the parents. In the evening grammar school, BAföG can only be applied for from the fourth half of the year.
