§ 25 NIngG

Membership, list of voluntary members

(1) Chamber members of the Chamber of Engineers are the compulsory members and the voluntary members.

(3) ¹ The persons entered in the list of voluntary members shall be members of the Chamber of Engineers as voluntary members. ² Any person entitled to use the professional title of "engineer" in accordance with § 6 shall be entered in the list of voluntary members upon request. ³ Entry on the list of voluntary members must be refused if there are facts showing that the applicant does not have the good repute required for the profession. ⁴ Sections 5 and 9 (1), (2) and (4) and Section 10 (3) apply mutatis mutandis to the registration procedure.

If you have a residence or a professional establishment in Lower Saxony or practice your profession wholly or partially, but not only temporarily or occasionally, in Lower Saxony and are entitled to use the professional title "Ingenieurin" or "Ingenieur", you can register in the list of voluntary members and become a member of the Chamber of Engineers of Lower Saxony.

You may use the professional title "engineer" protected in accordance with § 1 NIngG if the requirements specified in § 6 NIngG are met.

Persons who have a qualification from an EU member state, another state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or a state equivalent by agreement or other foreign countries need a permit from the Chamber of Engineers of Lower Saxony in accordance with §§ 7 to 9 NIngG in order to use the professional title "Ingenieurin" or must be entitled to use the professional title under the law of another federal state.

• Proof of university degree,
• Persons with a foreign university degree also:
  Authorisation to use the professional title "Ingenieurin" or "Ingenieur" according to §§ 7 to 9 NIngG
• Explanation/proof of reliability?
• Certificate non-prohibition, no criminal record
  or
• Proof of entitlement to use the professional title "Ingenieurin" or "Ingenieur" under the law of another federal state

Registration is possible under the following conditions (overview):

• Residence, professional establishment or professional practice (wholly or partially, but not only temporarily or occasionally) in Lower Saxony

Entitlement to use the professional title "Ingenieurin" or "Ingenieur" according to § 6 NIngG
The entitlement to use the professional title "Ingenieurin" or "Ingenieur" may be. carried out in separate proceedings by the Chamber of Engineers of Lower Saxony

• the reliability required for the profession

• 83 € one-time registration fee

An application for inclusion in the list of voluntary members must be submitted in writing or online using the form provided. The supporting documents referred to under "Required documents" must be attached to the application.

Provided that the required documents, including proof of entitlement to use the professional title, are complete.

If the entitlement to use the professional title must be checked, usually three to a maximum of four months after receipt of all required documents

There are no deadlines to be observed.

Voluntary members can become members of the pension fund of the Chamber of Engineers of Lower Saxony, unless the applicant has already reached the age of 45.
