If you keep cattle, sheep and/or goats and the pathogen of Q fever has been detected in your animals or in some of your animals by PCR, you can get the vaccine to combat this disease financed by the Lower Saxony Animal Health Insurance Fund.
The Lower Saxony Animal Health Insurance Fund procures the vaccine against Q fever if the causative agent of Q fever, Coxiella burnetii, has been detected in your cattle, sheep or goats by a positive PCR test. You can then submit an application for reimbursement through the competent municipal veterinary authority. From there, the application is sent to the Animal Health Fund, which decides on the procurement of the vaccine within a few days.
You are only entitled to benefits from the Animal Disease Fund if you have reported your animals to the Lower Saxony Animal Health Fund on the cut-off date 3.1 of each year and have paid the contributions determined from them in due time and in full. In addition, the infection of your cattle, sheep or goats with the causative agent of Q fever (Coxiella burnetii) must have been detected by PCR in a state testing institute.
You can only apply for reimbursement of the costs of the Q fever vaccine through the municipal veterinary authority responsible for the location of your animal husbandry.
- There you will receive the corresponding form.
- The municipal veterinary authority comments on the application and sends it to the Lower Saxony Animal Health Fund.
- In the case of the Animal Health Fund, a two-stage procedure is used to determine whether there is an entitlement to the benefits and, if so, how high the benefit is.
- The vaccine is ordered from the manufacturer by the animal health insurance fund and sent directly from there to your veterinarian's practice.
- The payment of the bill for the vaccine is made by the Animal Health Fund. You will receive a notification of this.
- Apply for aid for vaccines and/or vaccinations against Q fever for bovine, ovine or caprine animals
- Under certain conditions, the Lower Saxony Animal Health Insurance Fund will cover the costs of the vaccine against QFieber
- An application for the benefit must be submitted to the Animal Health Fund via the competent municipal veterinary authority
- The application must be made before the vaccine is used.
- The benefit is only granted if the animals have been reported to the Animal Health Insurance Fund on time, the contributions have been paid correctly and there is a PCR certificate of the pathogen of the LAVES or LUFA NordWest.
- Compliance with the animal health requirements is a prerequisite for the assumption of the costs
- Responsible: municipal veterinary authority
In Lower Saxony, the responsibility lies with the districts and independent cities as well as the Hanover region.
