If your driving license has been revoked by a court decision or by the driving license office, you can apply for a new driving license at the earliest 6 months before the end of the suspension period.

If your driving license has been revoked, you can reapply for it after the expiry of any specified suspension period. In the application process, you must prove that your ability and suitability to drive motor vehicles have been restored.

The driving license is issued for an unlimited period.

For categories C, C1, CE, C1E, D, D1, DE and D1E, the driving license is issued for a limited period.

• Valid identity card or passport (with current registration certificate if applicable)
• Current biometric photo (size 45x35 mm, portrait format, frontal view)
• Eye test certificate (not older than 2 years)
• Proof of participation in a first aid training course

For applications for driving license categories C, C1, CE, C1E, D, D1, DE or D1E additionally:

• medical certificate. If a medical-psychological examination (MPU) is required, this is not necessary.
• Ophthalmologic examination
• for categories D1, D1E and D, DE additional examination of special requirements

For the application for driving license categories D, D1, DE, D1E additionally:

• Certificate of good conduct (required every time a new license is issued, not just for bus driving licenses)

The fee is based on the scale of fees for road traffic measures (GebOSt).

If the driver's license is sent directly to your home address, an additional shipping fee will be charged.

You can apply for a new driver's license at the earliest 6 months before the end of the suspension period.

• Only the driving license classes specified in the Driving License Ordinance can be reissued; if necessary, the classes of the revoked driving license will be changed.
• The new license can only be issued for the scope of authorization that you had before it was revoked.
• In individual cases, it may be necessary for you to take the driving test again.
