The state of Lower Saxony intends to award working scholarships in the field of literature in 2024. The aim of the scholarships is to support authors who are still at the beginning of their literary career. They serve to realize writing projects in the High German language. In addition, there is the possibility of spending part of the funding period (1 to 2 months) in Worpswede (Martin-Kausche-Ateliers) if desired.

• Reading sample of maximum 10 manuscript pages

• You can receive a working grant as an author if your project has a connection to Lower Saxony or if you live or work in Lower Saxony.
• The grant can only be awarded for a high-ranking literary project whose texts are as yet unpublished.
• Applications for projects that have already been rejected in a previous year can only be considered again after a thorough revision.
• You will not be awarded a working grant if you receive regular benefits from third parties (e.g. residency or annual scholarship) or other funding from the state in the field of literature during 2024.
• As an applicant, you agree to present the work results of the planned project at an event financed by the state's cultural funding as part of the scholarship in the event of funding. You are not entitled to participate in such an event.
