A new decision by your authority ex officio must be made within one year of your housing benefit authority becoming aware of the change in your circumstances.
- Change of housing benefit ex officio
- The authority takes action following an inspection or notification by the person entitled to housing benefit
- The already approved rent or encumbrance allowance (for property) can be reduced,
- if the total income increases by more than 15 percent during the period of the housing benefit approval, and not just temporarily
- the rent or charge (excluding heating costs) for owner-occupied residential property is reduced by more than 15 percent
- the number of household members is reduced.
- If the change lasts longer than 4 months, it is no longer considered temporary.
