Comprehensive village development planning with intensive citizen participation, professional support for applicants and the promotion of investment projects are the proven instruments in Lower Saxony.
Funding is available to public and private applicants in the villages that have been included in the village renewal programme of the state of Lower Saxony.
The following can be funded:
- Design, urban planning and landscape conservation support as well as investment projects. These include:
- improvement of urban transport conditions,
- Design of village open spaces, squares and outskirts,
- Preservation and design of buildings that characterize the townscape or the landscape,
- Conversion of buildings that characterize the townscape or landscape for another purpose,
- Revitalization of unused or vacant buildings
- Creation of leisure and recreational facilities,
- Creation of community facilities appropriate to the village,
- creation of multi-functional houses,
- Acquisition of developed land in connection with previously listed projects.
The amount of funding is as follows:
- in the case of municipalities and non-profit legal entities, up to 63%,
- in the case of public beneficiaries, 35% of the eligible expenditure,
- in the case of other beneficiaries, 25% of the eligible expenditure. In the case of private grantees, a maximum funding amount of 50,000 euros is granted. Some of the above-mentioned projects also have higher funding amounts.
The funding rates can be increased by 5 percentage points for private applicants and 10 percentage points for public applicants if the project implements the objectives of an integrated rural development concept or a regional development concept according to Leader.
- The planned project is located in a village that is part of the village development program of the state of Lower Saxony. The programme is updated annually, i.e. villages are eliminated and new ones are admitted.
- A registration number (central company number ) is required for funding.
