The application must be submitted in writing by the driving school or personally by the applicant. If suitable, the competent authority issues the test order to the competent technical testing center.
The competent body issues a so-called test certificate for the driving license, which serves as proof of entitlement to drive in Germany up to 3 months after reaching the age of 18. This test certificate must be carried on all journeys. The certificate specifies the persons intended to accompany the driver, so it is not permitted to drive with any number of different accompanying persons.
If accompanied by an adult, young people in Germany are allowed to drive cars and trucks up to 3.5 tons as well as cars with trailers at the age of 17 after passing their driving test.
