You must register your dog.

The dog tax is determined by the competent authority.

Documents may be required, please contact the responsible office.

When you register your dog:

• You are the owner of at least one dog.
• The dog is at least 3 months old.

When you deregister your dog:

• You are no longer the owner of the dog, for example because
  • you have sold, given away or otherwise disposed of the dog,
  • you have lost the dog or
  • the dog has died.
• You no longer keep the dog.

Fees will be charged. Please contact the responsible office.

After registering the dog, dog tax stamps are issued, which must be returned when the dog is deregistered. The dog tax stamp must be carried and shown on request.

The municipal statutes regularly provide for exemptions and reductions. For more information, please refer to the respective municipal dog tax statutes.
