The construction, extension, significant modification and operation of animal enclosures require notification.

The following do not require notification

• Animal enclosures that do not exceed a floor area of 50 m² and in which no animals of particularly protected species according to the Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG) are kept,
• Release aviaries for animal species subject to hunting rights, if the aviaries are not set up for longer than one month,
• enclosures for a maximum of two birds of prey if the birds are kept for the purpose of falconry and the keeper holds a valid falconry license,
• net pens in which farmed or food fish are kept.

Documents are required. Please contact the responsible office.

Fees are charged in accordance with Annex 1 to Section 1 (1) of the General Fee Regulations of the State of Lower Saxony (AllGO) in accordance with No. 64.1.18.

Obtaining the notification does not include other permits; instead, a separate veterinary and building permit must be obtained.
