Verwendung des Landeswappens: Genehmigung

The coat of arms and the heraldic animal of Lower Saxony may only be used as national emblems by the offices of the state. Use by third parties is prohibited. Unauthorized use of the coat of arms or heraldic animal constitutes an administrative offense. The competent authority decides on the use of the national coat of arms on a case-by-case basis.

Associations, clubs, companies and private individuals who want to express their solidarity with the state of Lower Saxony - especially in the social, cultural and economic areas - can use the "Lower Saxony logo" free of charge. It is conceived as a figurative word mark and consists of a white horse running in a red oval with the word "Niedersachsen" standing to the right. The sign is protected by trademark law.

The "Lower Saxony sign" may,

• cannot be used to create an official or official character. For this reason, it cannot be used, in particular, by public authorities or by persons and associations particularly close to the state.
• will not be used for election advertising, misleading advertising and, in particular, not in connection with depictions that glorify violence, are inhumane, pornographic, right-wing or left-wing extremist or National Socialist depictions.
• should not be a central design element.
• cannot be used for purely commercial purposes, as these are not covered by the User Agreement. Such use shall be subject to special examination by the competent authority.
• as a figurative word mark, they may only be used as "one unit", unless expressly provided otherwise. Changes and/or additions to the color scheme (with the exception of the black and white representation) and the design are not permitted.

The prerequisite for the use of the "Niedersachsen-Zeichen" is the conclusion of a user agreement, which is available for download on the website of the state government.
