The task of the media supervisory authority is to monitor the offers on the Internet with regard to the correct provider identification (web imprint) and the imprint for printed works.
In the case of printed works, the name or company name and address of the printer and the publisher must be mentioned, in the case of self-publishing the name and address of the author or publisher.
Telemedia offers with violations of the imprint obligation can be punished according to the Interstate Broadcasting Treaty or .dem Telemedia Act with a fine of up to 50,000 euros, violations of the imprint obligations for printed works under the Nds. Press Act with a fine of up to 5,000 euros.
Note: Inadmissible offers according to § 4 of the Youth Media Protection Act State Treaty are prosecuted by the Lower Saxony State Media Authority and can be reported there.
The Lower Saxony State Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (LAVES) monitors the prescribed provider identification (imprint) according to § 10 Media Services - State Treaty and § 6 Teleservices Act and § 8 of the Lower Saxony Press Act.
