The delimitation of the affiliation of your company to the craft or to industry and trade is partly a complex question. You can seek advice from the Chamber of Crafts (HWK) and/or the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).
By law, those tradespeople who do not belong to the Chamber of Crafts belong to the IHK. In practice, however, many companies belong to both chambers because they carry out non-craft as well as craft or craft-like activities. These so-called mixed companies belong with their respective operating part of the IHK or the HWK.
Please contact the Chamber of Crafts (HWK) and/or the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in whose chamber district your company has or will have its headquarters.
