If you would like to work as an instructor in a recognized training occupation, you must provide proof that you have the necessary vocational and occupational pedagogical skills, knowledge and abilities.
The proof must meet the requirements of the Trainer Aptitude Ordinance (AEVO). It is usually provided in an examination which is conducted by the competent authority. You will be issued with a certificate if you pass the examination.
The AEVO applies to all trainers who wish to provide training in recognized training occupations in accordance with the Vocational Training Act. The only exception is training for members of the liberal professions.
Upon request, the competent authority can exempt you from the obligation to provide proof if you can demonstrate your professional and educational aptitude in another way and if proper training is ensured. This may be the case, for example, if you have many years of training experience outside the scope of the AEVO.
You must submit the application for exemption from the obligation to provide proof to the responsible office. You can obtain an application form from the office responsible for you. The overwhelming probability of aptitude is sufficient to substantiate your professional and occupational aptitude. Upon application, the competent body will issue you with a certificate of exemption from the obligation to provide evidence .

The bodies responsible for submitting applications are defined in §§ 71 - 75 of the Vocational Training Act (BBiG). As a rule, these are the chambers responsible for the respective training occupations.
