§ 1 Paragraph 1 Nursing Act (KrPflG)

You can apply to the State Office for Occupational Safety, Consumer Protection and Health (LAVG) for permission to use the job title of healthcare and pediatric nurse.

Working as a pediatric nurse is governed by precise regulations in Germany. This means that in order to work as a pediatric nurse in Germany, you need a state permit. With this permit, you can use the job title "pediatric nurse" and work in the profession.

The permit to use the professional title of healthcare and pediatric nurse is required to practice the profession in question. It must be applied for. The permit is granted if you

• have completed the training period prescribed by law and passed the state examination,
• have not been guilty of any conduct that makes you unreliable to practise the profession,
• are medically fit to practise the profession,
• have the necessary knowledge of the German language to exercise the profession.

- Original official certificate of good conduct (not older than 3 months)

- Proof of health suitability to exercise the profession (not older than 3 months)

• Passed the state examination for occupational therapists after 3 years of training
• health aptitude (this means that you are mentally and physically able to work as an occupational therapist)
• Reliability for working as an occupational therapist
• No criminal record
• Proof of the German language skills required for the job. This is normally language level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The costs generally depend on the time and effort required for processing.

You can apply for permission to use the job title "Pediatric nurse" in writing using the form provided:

• Download the form online and print it out.
• Complete the form and add the necessary supporting documents.
• Submit the application documents to the LAVG.

You will then receive the required permit by post and transfer the appropriate fee.

• LAVG will inform you if documents are missing
• for complete documents: 1 month

Sometimes documents are still missing for the procedure. The LAVG will then inform you by when you must submit the documents.
