If you notice any abnormalities in your drinking water, you can contact the local water supply company and, if necessary, your local health authority.
Water supply companies are responsible for ensuring that only flawless drinking water is supplied to you as a consumer. The requirements for the quality of drinking water are regulated in the Drinking Water Ordinance. In order to ensure this quality, the company and other owners of a water supply system are required to carry out mandatory tests on the drinking water. In addition, the public health department monitors the water supply systems with regard to compliance with the requirements of the Drinking Water Ordinance. What can you as a consumer do if the water is discolored, smells or tastes unusual or causes discomfort?
The first point of contact is the water supply company - it must investigate the problem. However, you can also contact the public health department if you have a justified complaint.
Please note: Drinking water can also be contaminated by the drinking water installation. The respective homeowner, house owner or landlord (contractor or other owner of the facilities for permanent water distribution) is responsible for the quality of the drinking water installation and therefore also for its repair.

As a rule, you should report any abnormalities in the drinking water to your responsible water supply company (also possible: contractors or other owners of permanent water distribution systems (drinking water installations) or the local health authority):
- You can forward your tip or suspicion of an impairment of the drinking water by e-mail, fax or telephone (e-mail is preferred).
- Your request will be processed.
- You will receive a reply from the responsible office.
- If you arrange for an examination yourself, the question of costs must be clarified with the examination body.
