Non-state educational institutions may use the designation "Berufsakademie" after state recognition.

Training at non-state vocational academies is an alternative to university studies. Vocational academies offer at least 3 years of science-related and at the same time practice-oriented training. The degree title "Bachelor" to be obtained there is equivalent to a university Bachelor's degree and entitles the holder to a Master's degree at a university.

Would you like to set up and operate a non-state educational institution as a university of cooperative education? To do this, you must apply for state recognition. With the state recognition, the University of Cooperative Education is allowed to

• The University of Cooperative Education must have the necessary personnel, space and material resources for the training company and a sufficient number of suitable teachers.
• The University of Cooperative Education must guarantee that it conducts the teaching and examination procedure in accordance with the applicable legislation.
• The teachers and trainees working at the University of Cooperative Education must be appropriately involved in the organisation of the training company.
• According to a financial plan of its sponsor, the existence of the University of Cooperative Education must appear to be financially secure for the duration of the training of the respective trainees.
• At least 40% of the teaching should be provided by full-time teachers who meet the recruitment requirements for a professorship at a university of applied sciences. The University of Cooperative Education offers at least 2 different training courses, each with several specialist focuses. This does not apply if the establishment of specialist focal points within a training course is not suggested by the corresponding professional field of activity.
• The University of Cooperative Education shall have a Board of Trustees which shall participate in decisions on the development of the University of Cooperative Education and on all matters of fundamental importance concerning it, and which shall include at least representatives of the competent Chamber of Commerce and Industry or another professional chamber, employers' and employees' organisations, the companies involved in the training, the teachers working at the University of Cooperative Education and the trainees. belong to.

You must apply for state recognition at the competent authority. The written form is not required by law for the application, but is usually required because of the extensive documents required.

If the requirements are met and if the accreditation/evaluation is successful, you will receive a notification of recognition. The recognition specifies the name, registered office and sponsor of the University of Cooperative Education as well as the recognised training courses.
