You would like to register a self-employed activity in a healthcare profession.

If you are self-employed in a healthcare profession, employ members of these professions or wish to offer/provide health and elderly care services in return for payment, you must notify the lower health authority of the commencement and termination of this activity. You must also report any significant changes (e.g. to the practice address). This applies unless there is an obligation to notify other authorities in accordance with other legal provisions

Exceptions to the obligation to notify in accordance with § 12 Paragraph 2 BbgGDG:

Sentence 1 does not apply to nursing and elderly care activities that are provided as follows:

1. under public-law sponsorship,

2. by organizations within the meaning of § 3 of the Twelfth Book of the Social Code,

3. in hospitals, preventive care and rehabilitation facilities in accordance with § 107 of the Fifth Book of the Social Code,

4. in facilities in accordance with § 3 Para. 2 BbgGDG or in facilities to which the Care Homes Act applies, or

5. in the context of an employment relationship with or for the benefit of the persons being cared for or as a courtesy or for reasons of family, kinship or neighborly assistance.

- Dieticians and dietary assistants,

- occupational therapists,

- Healthcare assistants and nurses, occupational therapists, healthcare assistants and nurses,

- Healthcare and pediatric nurses,

- Midwives and maternity nurses,

- alternative practitioners,

- Child and adolescent psychotherapists and therapists

- Speech therapists and speech therapists,

- state-certified masseuses or massage therapists and medical bath attendants and state-certified massage therapists or massage therapists and medical bath attendants,

- Medical technologists for laboratory analysis

- Medical technologists for radiology

- Medical technologists for functional diagnostics

- Medical technologists for veterinary medicine

- Orthoptists and orthoptists,

- Physiotherapists and physiotherapists,

- Podiatrists and podologists,

- Psychological psychotherapist or psychological psychotherapist

- Paramedic or emergency paramedic,

- Dentist

The responsible health authority will provide you with full information on the details required in your application. Important information is generally

- the start of professional practice; proof of authorization to use the professional title must be provided,

- the date of birth

- the type of employment,

- the address or addresses at which the professional activity is carried out and

- where applicable, the termination of the professional activity.

The lower health authority in whose area the activity is to be carried out is responsible.

The responsible health authority will provide you with full information about the documents to be submitted. Important documents are generally

- Copy of the permit to use the relevant professional title (applicant)

For the notification of employees additionally:

- Copies of the employee's license to use the relevant professional title

Planned (self-employed) activity in a healthcare profession, planned employment of healthcare professionals or planned offering/providing of nursing and elderly care services for remuneration.

The fees depend on the respective fee regulations of the independent cities and districts.

- You submit the notification including all necessary documents to the lower health authority in whose area the activity is to be carried out

- The competent authority checks the documents and issues a certificate of notification of commencement of work in a medical profession

The health authorities can provide information about the processing time.

The notification must be made immediately before the professional activity is exercised for the first time.
