The foundation directory contains all foundations with legal capacity based in Bavaria and the most important data for each foundation. Anyone can view it without giving reasons.

The register of foundations with legal capacity based in Bavaria (excluding ecclesiastical foundations) maintained by the State Statistical Office is kept in electronic form; the information it contains can be viewed by anyone.

The following data is entered for each foundation: Name, legal status, registered office, purpose, governing bodies, legal representation (statutory provisions), name of the founder, if the founder agrees, date of creation and expiry and address.

The register is constantly updated on the basis of data provided by the governments as foundation authorities, but unlike the commercial register or register of associations kept by the courts, it has no publicity effect.

It offers a wide range of convenient search options, for example by location (municipality, district, administrative district), period of establishment, purpose or type of foundation (e.g. municipal, public-law foundation) as well as references and links to further information and other foundation directories.
