You can ask the ID card authority to view the data stored on the chip of your new ID card or your electronic residence permit. You can also display this data on your smartphone.
With the introduction of the new ID card, the electronic residence permit and the eID card with the eID function, the conditions for unique identification on the Internet have been created. The data stored on your ID card can be requested and used by service providers with a valid authorization certificate.
The following data can be read out by providers on the Internet or from vending machines as part of the online ID function if you agree to the encrypted transmission by entering your PIN:
1. surname,
1a. Name at birth,
2. First names,
3. Doctorate,
4. Date of birth,
5. Place of birth,
6. Address,
6a. Unique municipal key used in the official municipal register,
6b. Nationality,
7. Type of document,
7a. Last day of validity,
8. Service and card-specific identifier,
9. Abbreviation "D" for Federal Republic of Germany,
10. Indication of whether a certain age is exceeded or undercut,
11. Indication of whether a place of residence corresponds to the place of residence queried,
12. Religious name, artist's name.
This data is not transmitted completely, automatically or with every application. Whether and which data is released and transmitted depends on the authorization certificate of the provider of the online service and your consent. Only the information on validity and whether the ID card is blocked will be transmitted in any case.
All other data stored on the chip (this includes, for example, the biometric data, i.e. photograph and fingerprints, on the ID card) cannot be read by the service provider.
At the request of the ID card holder, the ID card authority will grant access to the readable data stored in the electronic storage and processing medium. To do this, you must go to the ID card authority in person. This also applies to eID cards and electronic residence permits.
Using the ID card app on your NFC-enabled smartphone or a USB card reader, you can also view your data via smartphone, computer or tablet and gain read access to your data in the ID card by entering your PIN via the provider of this online service. Your personal data will not be stored, transferred or further processed in other applications.
You need an ID card, electronic residence permit or eID card with activated eID function.
To be able to use the "View my data" online service, you will need
- Your ID card/electronic residence permit/eID card with the eID function ready for use (including a six-digit PIN of your choice) and
- a USB card reader or an NFC-enabled smartphone (Android or iOS).
- In addition, the AusweisApp or other suitable software must be installed. You can download the AusweisApp free of charge (see "Further links").
