Training companies can apply for ESF+ funding for the training of young people in Bavaria whose chances on the training place market are reduced (Fit for Work - Chance Ausbildung).
Purpose
The purpose of the "Fit for Work - Training Opportunities" funding program is to increase the chances of finding a company-based training position for all young people. The aim is to help young people who find it difficult to obtain a training place due to the situation on the training market, their personal circumstances, educational and qualification deficits or poor social and personal skills (disadvantaged young people) to enter working life and successfully complete their training. Companies are therefore financially supported in the implementation of such training relationships.
Object
The object of the funding is in-company training relationships in recognized training occupations within the meaning of the Vocational Training Act or the Crafts Code with young people for a maximum of 16 months (approval period).
Recipients of funding
The "Fit for Work - Training Opportunities" grant from the European Social Fund Plus is aimed directly at companies providing training. Training companies based in Germany are eligible to apply,
- that have a training contract for in-company (dual) vocational training
- in a recognized training occupation in accordance with the Vocational Training Act (BBiG) or the Crafts Code (HwO) and
- carry out the training in Bavaria.
Eligible expenditure
The training allowance owed by the company is eligible for funding.
Type and amount
The training company can receive a grant of EUR 360 per month for training contracts that began on June 1, 2025 at the earliest, up to a maximum duration of 16 months, i.e. up to a total of EUR 5,760. The other eligibility requirements are set out in the funding information.
- The following documents must be submitted electronically in scanned form to ESF Bavaria 2021:
- Vocational training contract with registration note from the chamber,
- last certificate of the trainee from a general education school or business school,
- Proof of the applicant's authority to sign on behalf of the company,
- in the case of AsA measures: declaration from the responsible organization stating when the AsA measure was agreed (template for download),
- for trainees from third countries: Proof of secured residence status or proof of training toleration in accordance with § 60c AufenthG at the start of the vocational training.
The eligible target group includes young people who have not yet reached the age of 25 on the day they start their vocational training and who are German citizens or EU nationals or who are in Bavaria on the day they start their vocational training with a secure residence status (e.g. residence permit, settlement permit) or with a training toleration permit in accordance with Section 60c AufenthG. Refugees whose application for asylum has not yet been decided (tolerated persons) or young people who are in Germany as tolerated persons are not included in the eligible target group.
Eligible for funding are training relationships with:
- young people who start vocational training in the calendar year in which they leave school (the highest permissible qualification is a qualifying secondary school leaving certificate) and conclude the training contract no earlier than August 1 and no later than December 31 of that year or
- young people who last attended a practical class or vocational orientation class at a Bavarian secondary school or
- young people who leave a general education school or a business school without graduating or
- young people who have already left a general school or business school in the calendar year before the start of training or earlier ("previous applicants") or who change training company (e.g. due to insolvency) (the highest permissible qualification is a qualifying secondary school leaving certificate) or
- young people who attend or have attended a vocational integration class (BIK, BIK/V), a German class at vocational schools (DK-BS), a vocational integration year (BIJ), a vocational preparation year (BVJ) or a class for young people without a training place (JoA class) or
- young people who are dependent on the instrument of Assisted Training (AsA) in accordance with the provisions of SGB III for the successful completion of training, if the AsA benefit was agreed no later than nine months after the start of training.
Funding is excluded if
- the trainee has already completed vocational training or
- the training relationship is already being supported by public funds elsewhere or
- a funding requirement is not fulfilled.
The Zentrum Bayern Familie und Soziales (ZBFS) advises the applicant companies before and during the funding process. The ZBFS (approval authority) decides on the application and, if the requirements are met within the allocated funds, approves the grant by means of a grant notification.
The project application must be submitted electronically via the ESF Bavaria 2021 database.
Log in directly on the ESF Bavaria 2021 homepage with your user name and password.
If your company is not yet registered for ESF Bavaria 2021, you can do so at any time on the ESF Bavaria 2021 website under "1. You are new here" and "Registration Fit for Work". After registering, you will automatically be sent a username and password by email.
The processing of applications can take several months. However, this is not detrimental to training companies submitting applications, as the grant is only paid out in a lump sum at the end of the approval period (usually 16 months after the start of training) after proof of use has been submitted, regardless of when the grant notification is issued.
The application for funding must be submitted via the ESF Bavaria 2021 database no later than three months after the start of vocational training.
For young people who are supported with AsA, the application for funding must be submitted no later than three months after the AsA benefit has been agreed.
A company may only be registered once on the ESF Bavaria 2021 website!
