In the less-favored areas, farmers receive a compensatory allowance for income disadvantages due to natural unfavorable site conditions or other specific production disadvantages.
Purpose
Maintaining comprehensive land management and cultivating the cultural landscape is essential for the attractiveness of rural areas. Due to its natural features, the Free State has above-average tourism potential compared to the rest of Germany. Sustainable tourism would be inconceivable without an intact natural landscape that can be used for leisure and recreation.
Due to climatic and topographical conditions, more than half of the agricultural land in Bavaria is naturally disadvantaged. More than half of all farms in Bavaria operate on these areas.
In many cases, the cessation of land cultivation would lead to undesirable impairments of the landscape with effects on the natural attractiveness and ecology of the areas concerned.
Bavaria therefore grants compensatory allowances (AGZ) in disadvantaged areas.
Object
Granting of a compensatory allowance for agricultural land in disadvantaged areas.
Beneficiary
The beneficiary must be an active farmer within the meaning of Article 9 of Regulation (EU) No. 1307/2013 with a registered office in Bavaria and cultivate at least 3 ha of agricultural land in less-favored areas.
Type and amount
The amount of the AGZ per ha of UAA depends on the respective degree of disadvantage.
- Independent management of agricultural land in the less-favored area
- at least 3 ha of utilized agricultural area (UAA)
- Adherence to the provisions on cross compliance
Applications can generally be submitted annually to the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forestry responsible for the location of the farm together with the multiple application in the application period from mid-March to mid-May.
