With a personal budget, a benefit in kind from integration assistance is converted into a cash benefit or a voucher. The personal budget is not a new benefit, but simply a different form of benefit granting and service provision. With this personal budget, you can "purchase" expenses for your assistance needs yourself. This means you no longer have to submit an application for every benefit or service. The personal budget is tailored to your needs and can be used for various services. To ensure that the benefit targets are met, the responsible agency concludes a target agreement with you.
- written application for the granting of integration assistance benefits
- completed checklist (see "Links")
- Completed form "Declaration SGB IX" (see under "Links")
- Release from confidentiality (see "Links")
- Identity card or passport
- If applicable: Medical documents (e.g. certificates, clinical reports, expert opinions, assessment notices, severely disabled person’s ID card)
- If applicable: Caregiver ID card – if available
- If applicable: proof of current residence permit
- You are resident in Hamburg or you lived in Hamburg and Hamburg arranged for assistance outside of Hamburg.
- You are entitled to integration assistance or supplementary care assistance.
- You will be able to manage your personal budget independently or with support.
- You submit your application along with the necessary documents.
- Your application will be reviewed and, if necessary, you will be asked for any missing documents or information.
- Your application will be forwarded to the Medical Services, which will determine whether you qualify. If so, they will forward your application to the Social Work Services.
- The social education department invites you to a budget conference in which a target agreement will be concluded with you.
- The Benefits Law Department will approve your application and inform you of this in writing.
If you have a temporary residence permit, you can only claim the benefit during its validity period.
