You can purchase round wood or firewood from the district forestry offices.

You can buy round wood as well as firewood or fireplace wood from ecologically certified areas (FSC and PEFC) of the Hamburg State Forests. Sales outside of Germany (export, invoicing to foreign addresses) are not possible. There is no shipping option via postal service providers/freight forwarders. Please contact the district forestry office directly to find out whether local delivery is possible.

As a commercial customer or a private customer, you can choose from various types of wood such as oak, beech, alder, maple, Douglas fir and pine, which are offered in different ranges and qualities. Availability is highest during the felling season from October to March and depends on the felling planning and special events such as storms or beetle infestations. In addition to the standard sizes, you can also purchase individual sizes on request. Firewood is offered as round wood in lengths of 1 meter or 3 meters; in some cases, strong branches or crown wood can also be processed yourself. Ready-split and sawn firewood is available on request from the Klövensteen and Niendorfer Gehege district forestry offices. Demand for firewood is high, so quantities can quickly sell out.

• Chainsaw license if the wood is processed by the operator (only lying wood)

If you want to saw firewood yourself (lying wood), you need a chainsaw license and suitable personal protective equipment. You will receive a self-saw license from the district forestry office with all the necessary information.

There are costs, the amount of which depends on the current prices on the wood market and the respective quality/type of wood, as well as VAT, which is currently 7% for firewood/fireplace wood, otherwise 19%. Special services are charged separately as ancillary services or are included in the price of the wood.
The following payment methods are possible:

• Card payment with Girocard, debit or credit card (no Amex) in the district forest districts of Eißendorf, Hausbruch, Klövensteen (on request), Bergedorf and Niendorfer Gehege
• Purchase on account in all district forestry offices
• Cash payment in the Klövensteen, Bergedorf and Niendorfer Gehege forestry offices

• Please send your purchase request by email to the desired district forestry office.
• Please contact the Central Forestry Service at the Harburg District Office if you would like to conclude supply contracts or purchase large quantities of roundwood.
• You will receive details about collection and payment from the responsible office. If necessary, ask the responsible office for details.

The processing time depends on the availability of staff on site.

There may be waiting periods if the item is not available (waiting list, interested party list), especially for firewood.
