If your driving license has been revoked by a court order or the driver's license office, you are no longer authorized to drive a motor vehicle. You can apply for a new driving license after any suspension period has expired. During the application process, you must prove that you are again capable and fit to drive motor vehicles. All necessary steps will be explained to you during an on-site appointment.
- valid identity card or passport with current registration confirmation
- current biometric passport photo (35x45 millimeters)
- Certificate of good conduct (feature O for official purposes at the registration authority), not older than 3 months
- Appointment confirmation
- if available: the final court decision (penalty order or judgment) on the withdrawal of the driving license
- If you previously lived in another city and have recently moved to Hamburg: Confirmation from the previously responsible authority that your file was sent to the State Transport Authority in Hamburg
- If your original driving licence class B was issued before 1 August 1969: Proof of participation in a first aid training course
- Eye test (for example by an optician), not older than 2 years
Additionally for all larger motor vehicles (categories C, C1, CE, C1E, D, D1, DE or D1E):
- Report from an ophthalmologist in accordance with Annex 6 of the Driving Licence Regulation (FeV), validity: maximum two years from the date of issue
- Medical reports for C/D classes according to Appendix 5 FeV (family doctor or occupational traffic medicine specialist for D classes), validity: max. 1 year from the date of issue
- Her main residence is in Hamburg.
- If you have been granted a blocking period, this must have expired before the new one is issued (you can submit the application up to 6 months before the blocking period expires).
- You can prove that you are qualified and suitable to drive a vehicle.

- The exact procedure for reissuing a driving license varies from case to case and will be explained to you in more detail at your on-site appointment. A personal visit is therefore essential.
You can apply for a new driving license at the earliest 6 months before the expiry of the suspension period.
The application for a new licence is only possible possible at the LBV-Mitte location.
Reissuance is only possible for the driving license classes you held before the revocation. If you still hold the old driving license classes, they will be converted to the current version. The regular driving license is then generally issued for an unlimited period. For classes C, C1, CE, C1E, D, D1, DE, and D1E, the driving license is issued for a limited period.

Appointment booking
- Visit the website of the State Transport Authority to book an appointment (see link below).
- Select the category: Driving license
- Then select: Re-issuance after withdrawal (advice)
- Follow the steps to reserve an appointment.
- You will receive an email. Confirm your reserved appointment using the link in the email.
- You will receive an appointment confirmation. Please bring it with you to your appointment.
- Revocation of a driving license means that you are no longer allowed to drive a motor vehicle.
- A new driving license must be applied for.
The driving license can be reissued after:
- Revocation of driving license by court or administrative authority
- a court ban
- a ban against the holder of a foreign driving license
- a rejection of a first application for a driving licence (refusal) or
- a physical disability
- Proof of the restoration of the ability and suitability to drive a motor vehicle is required. The details of the reissue must be clarified on site with the person concerned at the LBV.
