If you want to start your own driving school, you must apply for a driving school license. To open a driving school, you must also be a driving instructor.
- a valid identity card or passport with a current registration certificate
- a valid driving instructor's license
- proof of successful completion of a driving school business management course
- Information about the classes to be taught (you can only teach the classes for which you have a driving instructor license)
- Information about the location and name of the driving school
- proof of full-time employment as a driving instructor from the driving school
- if applicable, a statement about previous applications for driving school permits
- if applicable, a declaration of taking over or joint use of a driving school; in the case of joint use, a usage plan of the driving school rooms and a declaration of joint use of the teaching materials
- a rental agreement for rented premises
- a scaled sketch of these rooms
- an explanation of the teaching materials
- a list of training vehicles with proof (class A, BE, CE and DE)
- an extract from the Central Trade Register
- a declaration from the responsible tax office as to whether the tax obligations have been fulfilled
- the appointment confirmation
The application can only be submitted by persons who:
- are at least 25 years old,
- have completed a driving school business management course,
- have worked full-time as a driving instructor for at least 2 years.
- The driving school’s headquarters must be in Hamburg.
- Book an appointment online.
- Bring all necessary documents with you.
- Your request will be processed on site.
Only the LBV-Mitte location is responsible for matters concerning driving instructors and driving schools.
