If you want to train driving students as a driving instructor, you will need a driving instructor's license.
The driving instructor’s license entitles you to train driving students.
The driving instructor's license is issued upon application in class BE and additionally in classes A, CE and DE. It may only be used professionally if there is an employment or training relationship with a driving school or if you have your own driving school license.
- a valid identity card or a valid passport with a current registration certificate
- a driving license in accordance with the requirements
- a certificate of participation in the course at the driving instructor training center
- a resume
- a medical report according to Annex 5.1 and 6 of the Driving Licence Ordinance
- a certificate from an ophthalmologist in accordance with Annex 6 of the Driving Licence Regulations
- proof of completed vocational training in a recognized training occupation or a high school diploma
- an extended certificate of good conduct
- the appointment confirmation
- proof of activity in the Bundeswehr's driver training program during the last two years (duration: at least twelve months)
- the main residence is in Hamburg
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Abitur or completed vocational training in a recognized training occupation
- Possession of a driving license for the class for which the driving instructor license is to be issued (at least class BE and three years' possession of class B)
- knowledge of the German language required for the exercise of the professional activity
Responsible for matters concerning driving instructors and driving schools is the LBV-Mitte location.
